Buzzards Bay Derby
75 seconds. One line. The whole bay below you.
Buzzards Bay Derby is a one-screen arcade fishing game played on an antique nautical chart of Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts. Lower your line, steer it down through the currents, and touch fish to hook them — then haul before the tide runs out.
HOW IT PLAYS
Press or touch to lower the hook. Hold and slide to steer. Release to haul your catch in. You can stack up to five fish on the line, and a full line pays a graduated bonus — the more you stack, the more each fish is worth. Greed is good, until it isn't.
WHAT'S DOWN THERE
Scup in the shallows — easy points. Bluefish mid-water. Flounder hugging the bottom. Striped bass in the deeps — the big money.
Mind the eelgrass beds and the buoy moorings: every foul sheds a fish. Watch the rival boat's line. And when your line hangs heavy, the great shark comes for it.
THE DERBY RULES
• 75 seconds a round — and one Second Tide per round buys you 20 more seconds
• The Daily Sounding: one bay a day, the same water for everyone who sounds it that day
• The Ledger of Notable Hauls keeps your best hauls
• A lifetime standing in the Ledger unlocks the Stout Line (stack six fish) and the Long Tide (90-second rounds)
• The better you fish, the harder the bay pushes back — currents quicken, hazards crowd in
JUST PLAY
Runs right in your browser — no install, no account. Mouse or touch. Sound on or off, your call. Free to play; if it earns a smile, a donation keeps the bait coming.
